What if you can have faith that is locked and loaded, prepared for all the challenges that life has? The faith Jesus actually taught enables you to be ready for every situation. As this book pulls directly from Scripture, Pastor Ty Austin walks readers into the kind of faith that does not waver, but speaks, obeys, and wins the only fight that ultimately matters. The fight of faith.
The faith most of us were handed holds up at brunch and falls apart at 2 a.m. It speaks in soft suggestions. It says "I'll pray for you" without really expecting anything to change. That's not what Jesus taught.
Battle Ready Faith is a hard reset on what belief actually is — for anyone tired of spiritual platitudes and ready for the real thing. It's about a faith that does not fold under pressure. A faith that can take a hit. A faith that wins.
Across ten chapters, Pastor Ty Austin pulls no punches. He doesn't sugarcoat the cost of obedience or oversell the timeline of God's promises. What he does — chapter after chapter — is show what it actually looks like to walk through real life with a faith that holds. Through a job loss. Through a hard diagnosis. Through a marriage on the rocks. Through a future that feels like fog.
Each chapter ends with reflection questions you can journal through alone or open up in a group. A complete ten-session Discussion Guide at the back makes the book ready to use as the spine of a small-group study, a couples' read-along, or a men's or women's discipleship cohort.
The whole book is built around a single, uncomfortable invitation:
Become a person who actually believes — and find out what has been waiting on the other side of that decision.
In the middle of teaching these messages to our church my wife found herself in Israel as the USA and Israel attacked Iran. Missiles started flying, airports shut down and we were in the middle of a crisis. From there, this book title was finalized.
I have noticed that whenever I begin to teach on faith, the room shifts. Some find their hearts catching fire. Others find themselves increasingly uncomfortable. There is something about genuine faith — the faith Jesus actually taught — that confronts the way most of us have been living, including the way many believers have been living. It does not always go down easy. Some could call it offensive.
There are two senses of the word offensive. The first is the kind we associate with sports and warfare: a posture of taking ground rather than only defending it. Believers are called to that kind of faith. We are not in this for damage control. We are in this for the advance of the kingdom of God in our lives, our families, our neighborhoods, our cities, and our generations. That is offensive faith in the first sense — on the offense, moving forward, taking territory the Lord has offered us.
The second sense is more uncomfortable. The faith Jesus taught was offensive to the religious people of His own day, and it is still offensive to a great deal of contemporary religious thinking. It cuts across our excuses. It refuses to let us trade the substance for a polite imitation. It calls us to obey when obedience is costly. It exposes the unbelief we have been quietly tolerating. The believer who reads through these pages and walks away vaguely irritated has, in many cases, simply met faith on its actual terms. The Bible does not soften the demands of faith for our comfort. It calls us higher. Offensive faith in this way is faith that confronts us honestly. It radically challenges any hint of unbelief.

Battle Ready Faith began as a seven-week sermon series preached at Arise Church. The book is the long-form, edited version of that teaching, written for anyone — inside our church or far from it — who is contending for the kind of faith Jesus actually taught.
Arise Church is a community on a mission discipling generations to arise now. Made up of the Apex Campus and house churches, we are engaged in a multi-generational effort to fulfill the ministry vision God has given us — a vision being walked out, day by day, in faith. You are warmly invited to join us in person or online.
